LA-UX Meet Up -- September 25, 2008
The LA Times Media Group recently hosted a social networking event on Thursday, September 25th for the
"Los Angeles User Experience Meet Up (LA-UX)" which is a community of user experience and interaction
design professionals that meet regularly to network and learn about their craft by interacting with fellow UX
peers in their field.
This event was set up as "Design Off" geared toward invoking everyone's creative muse. The event consisted
of a simple design challenge where everyone broke up into small groups and collaboratively came up with
their own individual design using the arts and crafts materials provided. Each group then shared their results
by providing a short presentation of their creation. Over 110 people attended and participated an evening of
creative fun!

HOY, Sales Representative, Display Advertising
If you are aggressive, self-motivated, and committed to success in Advertising sales, The Los Angeles Times Media Group has a Sales Representative, Display Advertising position available, working within HOY.
Responsibilities include a high priority on finding and developing new advertising customers, primarily in the retail category, analyzing account situations to determine needs and preparing sales materials and sales presentations.
Key responsibilities will be:
- Grow sales territory
- Forecast quarterly sales
- Interact/work with multiple business units within the company
- Work closely with Creative/Marketing Team to create advertisements for clients
- Manage clients' finances
- Handled credit issues between client and Finance Center
- Will sell multiple LATM products on daily basis: HOY, Los Angles Times, latimes.com, Brand X, etc.
Requirements include a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent related experience in Marketing or Sales. 2+ years of successful sales experience is preferred. Candidate must be personable, analytical, highly motivated and have strong oral and written communications skills. Bilingual preferred.

Typist Part-Time
Responsible for typing and reformatting copy/text for all automobile, real estate, and retail/recruitment ads for production.
Assure wording in all ads makes sense, spelling is correct, grammar is accurate and will assist with minor ad building and revises in downtime. Verify ad text meets the customer intended requirements and formats.
Must be able to type at least 70 wpm on a Macintosh platform.

The Los Angeles Times Media Group is searching for Outside Advertising Account Executives (Westside Territory) for one of our Events & Activities print & online product; Brand X. Brand X will be the premier guide to entertainment for young Angelenos. It's the place to find out about movies, dining, bars, music, movies, television, events, style, and more.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The AE will develop and sell new business as well as maintain and grow existing customer business. The sales process will include: prospecting, presenting, selling, and maintaining online advertising programs and products with advertisers. Target categories will include restaurants, bars & clubs, and other entertainment venues.
The AE will work closely with the Los Angeles Times staff to maximize revenue and efficiencies and continually introduce new product enhancements and programs to print sales teams and advertisers.
Success will be judged primarily on meeting or exceeding revenue goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
" All aspects of the print and online selling process (75% print and 25% online), from prospecting through campaign follow-up.
" Expands account responsibility to include nightclubs, bars, live theater. (Primarily category responsibility will be restaurants)

Times Community News is looking for an editor to bring its Orange County titles into the new decade and the new journalism. The Director of Editorial for TCN South oversees content for three news organizations: Daily Pilot (Newport-Costa Mesa), Coastline Pilot (Laguna Beach) and Huntington Beach Independent.
Knowledge and familiarity of Orange County people and attitudes is a must. Must be comfortable with being the face of the papers and their respective websites and have a steadfast commitment to journalistic excellence and transparency. Must have a commitment to working with political figures and community leaders as well as to reaching out to those less involved in civic life.
